Fishing Rods for Sale / Split Cost Fishing Charters

Tampa Fishing Charters for BIG seatroutI have three Daiwa Model CL-CC701 HFS rods available for sale.  I use these rods for kingfish, cobia or when fishing for larger snook.  They are 7 feet long, heavy action and are good for throwing larger live baits.  Rods are a little over a year old and in good condition.  I typically use 20 lbs test and a 6000 series reel with these.  I'll sell them for $40 each, or, if you take all 3, $100.

Also, if any  of you are interested in splitting the cost of a fishing charter with someone in September, let me know.  The cost for a split charter is half the cost of a normal charter plus $25, so a 4, 6 and 8 hour split charter would cost $237, $287 and $337 respectively. If you would like to bring another person with you, add $25. If you are interested in having me set up a split cost charter for you, please supply me with the possible dates that you could go and how many hours you would like to fish.  Thank you.

Seminar August 2013 - What to Catch in the Heat of Summer

Summer Cobia on Tampa Fishing CharterThis Thursday Evening, August 1st, at 6PM at the West Marine Store in Clearwater, I will be giving a seminar on "What to Catch in the Heat of Summer". As we move into August, many anglers lessen their fishing efforts based on the belief that fishing is just tougher during summer's heat.  Certainly it is when compared to the awesome fishing available from late March thru mid July, but there are many opportunities for those who still want to go out and bend a rod. I'll discuss several species which are still available to be caught as well as the best techniques to track them down. West Marine will provide free drinks and pizza as well as a few store give aways.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Split Cost Charter - July 2013

Tampa Fishing Charter for SnookIf you have an interest in splitting the cost of a fishing charter with another angler or two in July, simply respond to this email. Please let me know the dates that you are available to go and for how many hours.  The more flexible you are, the easier it will be to set up the charter. The cost for these split charters for one person is $237, $287 and $337 for 4, 6 and 8 hours respectively.  If you would like to bring a second person on your side of the split, add $25 to these prices.  The maximum number of people on the boat on any split cost charter will be 4 total.

Most trips in the last few weeks have yielded combinations of snook and redfish, plus a large trout or two. A half dozen snook per trip has been average but double digit numbers have been reached on several trips.  Redfish, to the best of my knowledge, are not schooled up anywhere right now, but catching a limit of fish plus a few on days with stronger tides has been typical.  The larger seatrout are beginning to thin out.

Prime Snook fishing typically holds up until mid to late July, then starts to weaken as fish finish spawning and begin to disperse. I do have three or four good days left this month if you want to track down a snook.  Thanks
